Al`s Great Great Aunt ,Edith Cole , sister of Arthur Cole ,would help in the welfare of wounded Commonwealth troops.Wounded soldiers from the Great War were sent back to the UK hospitals if they recieved a "blighty" for treatment, Edith`s house in Exeter,Devon was a regular visiting place to help rehabiliate before going back up the line and she would also carry out volunteer work in the hospital wards looking after the troops. This little goldmine of history has been brought back to life to keep the story alive and show a different angle on welfare through the ages of Old Soldiers.
